Movie Babylicious, the story of the first love of youth - Aaj News

Babylicious is all set for Eidul Azha release and lead actor Shahroz Sabzwari, who would be sharing screen space with his former wife Syra Yousuf in the movie after separation in 2020, believes it is a never been tried genre in Pakistani cinema: chick flick.

“The film is romantic entertainer, a genre which has not been touched in Pakistan,” Sabzwari told Aaj News in an interview where he spoke about the film and his experience of sharing screen space with Syra. “The story of the film is about the first love of youth when no one has any understanding.”

Babylicious is directed by Essa Khan. The cast also includes Mani and Ankur Rathee, who starred in Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada earlier this year. It took three years to shoot the film, mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic and nuances of filmmaking.

Sabzwari was of the view that every cast member has worked hard over the three years. “We have tried to make such a film that the audience will feel proud after watching the film,” he said.

Similar views were once expressed by late Indian actor Irrfan Khan in an interview while speaking about his choice of films and craft.

Rishta Hai Jesa Khawab Sa actor added that the film’s story was their own and not a copy of anyone. “It’s just for entertainment so that people are happy to see it.”

When asked about the film, Syra Yousuf said that the film was initially to be presented as a telefilm, however, it was later decided that it would be made as a feature film, and more work was done on the scripting.

“The filming of the film was very fragmented in different parts, but the main reason was that the Covid had come and there was a lot of work and in these conditions, the work was very difficult, you could not do anything,” the Dil Aur Tum added.

When asked about the reaction of their daughter to the movie, Sabzwari said Nooreh had expectations from the movie. “Baba tell me in advance, how is the movie because I will go with my friends so I don’t get embarrassed,” he quoted her nine-year-old daughter as saying.

Syra said that when the trailer of the film was released their daughter was “very excited”, adding that she used to be on the set of the movie. “Now she is getting older so she has a better understanding of things like I will go to the movies with my friends.”

Yousuf and Sabzwari divorced after seven years of marriage in March 2020, citing irreconcilable differences and at that time had asked people to respect their choices and privacy. Sabzwari announced his remarriage to model Sadaf Kanwal on May 31, 2020.

Mani said that he was playing the role of a gangster, who is suffering from problems amid bad conditions in the country, in the movie.
