The Lahore High Court suspended its order of reinstating Members of the National Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Tuesday.

The court issued notices to all parties in the appeal case and also called up the attorney general to assist the court in the matter. The matter will be heard on June 21.

Advocate Ahsan Bhoon argued that writ petitions cannot be filed to challenge any action of the speaker of the National Assembly. He also argued that a single member bench had reinstated the PTI members against the law.

Bhoon also argued that the same members asking for relief from the court had initially gone to the Islamabad High Court. The judge remarked that important points had been raised in the petition and suspended the notification reinstating the MNAs.

The Lahore High Court had reinstated 72 MNA by suspending the speaker’s order of accepting their resignations on May 19. However, the speaker has refused to let them inside the house again despite multiple attempts.

The MNAs had resigned from the house after Imran Khan was ousted as prime minister through a no-confidence vote.

However, their resignations had been accepted months later in a sudden move by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
