The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has given a green signal to increase natural gas prices in Pakistan by 45 to 50 per cent.

The Sui Northern Gas would increase 50 per cent in its tariff, while Sui Southern Gas consumers would bear a 45 per cent increase in their bills starting from July.

The average price of gas for Sui Northern is likely to increase by Rs 415 per Metric Million British Thermal Unit and for Sui Southern by Rs 417.23 per MMBtu.

On the other hand, OGRA has approved to fix the average price of gas at Rs1238.68 MMbtu on Sui Northern and Rs1350 MMbtu on Sui Southern.

The increase in gas prices will be effective from July 1, 2023, but the final decision on the price increase will be taken by the federal government.
