The news of the attack on Nawaz Sharif in London that went viral on social media early on Sunday was proven to be false.

The original tweet claiming the attack was deleted after it turned out that Nawaz’s vehilce got caught up in a protest in London.

The tweet was made by Khurram Butt, a PMLN worker said to be Nawaz’s security incharge. He claimed that Nawaz had been attacked by ‘PTI goons’ but the former PM was safe. He also said that the attackers had been handed over to the police.

Khurram Butt’s tweet has now been deleted.

The tweet had also included photos of a black vehicle with a liquid splashed on it, and a man being carried away by police.

However, it has now been revealed that a Black Lives Matter protest was taking outside the coffee shop where Nawaz was sitting at the time. A close up photo of the protestors being escorted away by the police clearly shows the BLM logo on the protestor’s back.

The protestor who was arrested had thrown coffee on a vehicle which turned out to be Nawaz’s.
