Entire state machinery is involved in politics: IHC Justice Miangul Hassan
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has expressed its concerns over the involvement of the entire state machinery in politics, including the Inspector General (IG).
This remark came by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb during the hearing of a contempt of court case related to the re-arrest of Shireen Mazari.
During the court proceedings on Thursday, Advocate Imaan Mazari, daughter of Shireen Mazari, appeared before the court along with her lawyer, Zainab Janjua.
Justice Aurangzeb questioned the absence of the IG, stating that this is a contempt of court case and the IG should have been present.
The additional attorney general informed the court that the IG is currently attending the chief justice’s court and will join the proceedings shortly.
Justice Aurangzeb remarked that Shireen Mazari’s arrest had nothing to do with the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). He expressed his disappointment that the court was not informed earlier about the political nature of the situation.
Afterward, the court summoned the Islamabad police chief to appear in a personal capacity on May 31. The court also instructed the IG to submit a written reply before the next hearing.
