NAB to scrutinise Imran’s assets since 1992

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has been called to appear before NAB in the £190 million case on May 23. The bureau has also decided to expand the scope of its investigation into Imran’s affairs.

Imran Khan had previoulsy been asked about why a confidential agreement between Malik Riaz and UK’s National Crimes Agency had been agreed upon and the millions of pounds sent back to the property tycoon instead of being deposited in the tresury.

He had also been asked why Riaz’s money had been adjusted against his liability in the Supreme Court and asked to explain why he had received money and land for the Al-Qadir University in exchange for the favour.

However, the scope of the investigation is now being expanded to Imran’s general financial affairs. He has now been asked to submit details of all his assets that were built since 1992, the year he led retired from playing cricket.

He has been asked submit details of all his bank accounts as well as all his transactions with his wives, sons, sisters and any dependents. He has also been asked to show details of any past transactions with Malik Riaz.

This is the same case in which Rangers personnel had arrested him from Islamabad High Court premises on May 9.Imran Khan had previoulsy been summoned in the case on May 18 but had chosen to skip the hearing. He had instead submitted a reply saying that the proceedings against him were illegal as per the new NAB law.

Imran’s former accountability aide Shahzad Akbar as well as multiple cabinet members have also been summoned by the court. Imran’s wife, Bushra has also been nominated in the case.
