Pakistan Cricket Board’s Management Committee was given a two month extension on Monday.

The committee is the main power body of the PCB and Chairman Najam Sethi is also a member.

The extension was confirmed by a notification from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination which said that the aim was to ’ensure effective discharge“ of the duties that the committee has been trusted with.

Cricket news websoite ESPN Cricinfo had reported a few days ago that the committee still has work to do regarding the reimplementation of the 2014 constitution, The committee had originally been given 120 days for the task but it has not been completed.

The story had also said that one reason for the delay is the ongoing tour of New Zealand to Pakistan which is currently taking up the board’s attention. The committee’s original tenure expired on April 20.

The committee had been formed after Ramiz Raja was removed as the PCB’s chairman. It was the beginning of the process to undo changes that had been brought to cricket’s highest goerning body in the country by the Imran Khan government.

Among the committee’s tasks is to elect a chairman, with Sethi being the likely candidate.
