Imran expresses fear of arrest on Eid
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan approached the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday, saying that the government might try to arrest him on Eid.
In a request submitted by Faisal Chaudhry, Imran has asked the court to provide details of all cases against him even ones that have been filed ‘secretly’.
Imran has told the court that he has ‘learnt’ that the government will try to arrest him during Eid and the federal government is planning to attack ‘Zaman Park’.
The court has been requested that any arrest attempts during Eid holidays should be made conditional with the court’s permission.
Faisal Chaudhry told the court that Imran has dozens of cases filed against him across the country and could be arrested if he comes to Islamabad.
Imran Khan has already obtained orders from the Lahore High Court that he should not be ‘harrassed’. However, the LHC did not give an injunction against a raid on Zaman Park.
Zaman Park was the site of intense clashes between police and PTI supporters earlier this year. Police were trying to arrest Imran Khan in a case registered in Islamabad for which non-bailable warrants had been issued.
However, police were forced to withdraw after resistance by PTI workers and the court later issued orders that Imran’s residence should not be attacked.
