The government on Saturday increased the petroleum development levy on diesel by Rs5 per litre to meet IMF demands.

The PDL on high-speed diesel (HSD) rose from Rs45 to about Rs50 per litre when the government announced petroleum prices for the next fortnight Friday night.

The IMF has been urging the government to increase PDL by Rs50 per litre on all petroleum products, sources said.

At present, the PDL already stands at Rs50 per litre, according to an Ogra documents.

On Friday, the government also levied Rs2 on Kerosene oil.

However, PDL on light diesel (LDO) has been slashed by Rs.08 to Rs13.78 per litre.

The government has decided prices of petrol and diesel will remain unchanged for the next 15 days.
