Imran Khan deletes video tweet of alleged intelligence agent
PTI chief Imran Khan has deleted a tweet containing a video of a man who, Khan alleged, was inciting PTI workers to violence. The former prime minister had claimed that the man was an intelligence agent, “agency ka admi”.
“This man from the agency is trying to incite our workers to commit violence and [he] is being unmasked [here],” Khan said in the tweet viewed by nearly 45,000 people before it was deleted.
In the tweet, the PTI chief also asserted that his struggle was peaceful.
The video was also tweeted by some of the PTI supporters including journalist Imran Riaz Khan.
PMLN’s Maryam Nawaz Sharif responded to the tweet by saying that faced with possible legal action under terrorism charges, Khan was now talking about ‘incitement.’
The video tweeted by Khan showed a man wearing a white shirt and office trousers engaged in a heated exchange with PTI workers. A male voice, apparently from behind the camera, is heard saying that the man was trying to incite PTI workers to set fire to public properties.
The man in a white shirt then leaves the scene before the video ends.
It was not clear immediately why Imran Khan deleted the tweet. PMLN later claimed that the man in the video was indeed a PTI worker.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused Khan on Monday of launching a smear campaign against Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir.
