Massive traffic jam near Islamabad Airport as Imran appears in court
Massive gridlocks were witnessed near and in the surrounding areas of the Islamabad Airport as Imran Khan set to appear in the Judicial Complex on Saturday in the Toshakhana case.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s motorcade entered Islamabad on Saturday after a brief interruption at the federal capital’s toll plaza, where capital police barred some of the former prime minister’s security vehicles from entering the city.
Srinagar Highway is one of the main highways in Islamabad, while, Imran is on the highway approaching from the east to the judicial complex, which is just off the highway, about one kilometre.
The airport is at the western end of the Kashmir highway. So all the people coming east from the airport towards the city are seeing a blockage near G-11 where police personnel are clashing with protestors.
Ahead of the former prime minister’s appearance before the court in Islamabad, the area has been put on high security to ensure law and order and avoid any untoward situations — as happened last month.
Meanwhile, in an update on the traffic advisory for today, the Islamabad police alerted citizens of possible roadblocks and detours due to traffic disruption amid tight security arrangements around the G-11 judicial complex.
In a tweet, the Islamabad police advised citizens to take alternative routes.
