Venue for Imran Khan’s Islamabad hearing changed, Section 144 imposed

Imran Khan has called the F-8 court 'dangerous'

Islamabad’s district administration has changed the venue for Imran Khan’s hearing in the Toshakhana case on Saturday.

The hearing was supposed to be held in Islamabad’s kachehri in sector F-8 but has now been moved to the judicial complex in G-11.

“The Chief Commissioner…, as one-time dispensation, is pleased to declare Court No.1 Ground Floor Judicial Complex, G-11/4 Islamabad, venue for hearing of case ’District Election Commissioner vs Imran Khan Niazi on 18 March 2023 instead of F-8 Court Complex Islamabad.” a notification read

Imran Khan had repeatedly said that there is a danger of another assassination attempt being carried out on his life if he appears in court. He has also specifically said that the crammed court complex in F-8 is more prone to a security lapse.

During his last appearance in Islamabad’s courts, the PTI chief appeared in the judicial complex in G-11 as well as the Islamabad High Court but had not appeared in F-8.

The case for which the venue has been changed is the same one in which warrants were issued for the former PM’s arrest. The warrants led to clashes outside Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence, from where police ultimately returned empty handed.
