Over 100 PTI workers, leaders booked for vandalism in Karachi

The Karachi police have registered six cases against PTI leaders and workers for rioting during the protests against the possible arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.

On March 13, PTI called for country-wide protests as police continued attempts to try to arrest Imran Khan in Lahore.

The cases have been registered at the Pirabad, Sachal, Shah Latif, Aziz Bhatti, North Nazimabad, and Docks police stations. The six cases have nominated 500 unidentified people including the named PTI leaders and party workers.

The protesters were booked under sections 147 (Punishment for rioting),148 (Rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), and 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sections of disruption of government, damage to property, and habeas corpus were also included in the FIRs.

PTI MPA Shah Nawaz Jadoon was booked under an anti-terrorism provision at the Docks police station.

Police have arrested 12 protesters from district central for rioting and causing a disturbance during the protests on Monday.

PTI MPA Saeed Afridi goes to court

PTI MPA Saeed Afridi applied for bail at city court for the case registered in Pirabad police station against him and eight party workers for protesting at Banaras Chowk.

Saeed Afridi said that the allegations lodged in the FIR are false and that peaceful protest is our democratic right.The MPA said that the Sindh police are infamous for revenge actions. “These fake cases will not de-motivate PTI workers,” he said.

PTI Karachi’s Vice President Dr Masroor Sial nominated in FIR

The police registered a case against PTI Karachi Division Vice President Dr Masroor Sial at Shah Latif police station for protesting at the National Highway Karachi. Two hundred and fifty protesters were also nominated in the case.

Saeed Afghani Qalandar, Masood Qazi Zafar, Naimat Swati, Ihsan Khattak, Taus Khan, Ghulam Mustafa Rashid Badeshi, and Saeed Afghani were among others nominated in the case.

The FIR states that Dr Masroor Sial instigated the PTI workers to resort to violence.

The FIR states that protesters pelted stones and broke windows of vehicles Official vehicles, police mobiles, and citizen vehicles were beaten with sticks.

Government property was damaged and PTI officials and party workers did not heed the police’s requests or warnings.

Haleem Adil Sheikh nominated

The police filed a case against PTI opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh and 150 protesters at the Sachal police station.

The FIR stated that the protest at Super Highway disturbed traffic flow and caused a jam at the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway.

The protesters threw stones and broke the windows of vehicles.
