Muttahida Qaumi Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has welcomed the London High Court verdict on the six properties claimed by the MQM-P but controlled by Altaf Hussain.

Hours after the court declared that around £10 million (Rs3.36 billion) worth of properties including the house where Hussain has lived for years belong to the MQM-P, Siddiqui spoke to reporters and announced that part of the proceeds from these properties will be given to Imran Farooq’s widow Shumaila Farooq.

MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq was murdered in London in September 2010 and a Pakistani court ruled in 2020 that Altaf Hussain ordered the killing.

Siddiqui said the MQM-P will spend all the money from London properties on the welfare of people and the ammount will not be used for political activities.

The verdict has also proved that MQM-P is the real MQM and it has no branch, said Siddiqui speaking at the Bahadurabad headquarters of the party.

Farooq Sattar, who was also present, said that the party will set up an endowment fund with the money. It remains to be seen how the money will be recovered, he added.

MQM-P Lawyer Nazar, speaking from London on the video link, read from the judgment and told reporters that the court had ruled that MQM-P was the real MQM.
