Suicide bomber among 6 suspects arrested in North Waziristan
Security forces in an operation arrested six suspects including a suicide bomber in North Waziristan on Wednesday.
They are said to be part of the same group and include the facilitators of the bomber. Information gleaned from the suspects is expected to lead to more arrests, sources told Aaj News.
The men were allegedly enrolled as students in seminaries located in Karak, Hangu, Thall, and Kurram, they said.
Security forces have appealed that parents should complete their due diligence before putting children in madrassas.
Terrorist killed in North Waziristan
A terrorist was killed during an exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces in the North Waziristan district, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The incident took place in the Spinwam area, according to the military’s media wing. The terrorists had remained “actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and civilians”. The tribal elders were committed to giving full support for the eradication of terrorism from the area.
Since the beginning of 2023, operations in Waziristan have led to the arrests of three suicide bombers and 28 accomplices.
Operations by security forces have seen a renewed intensity after terrorist attacks started targeting the country towards the end of last year.
The recent attacks on police in Peshawar and Karachi have been particularly brutal for Pakistan which has lost thousands of lives to the menace in the last decade.
