Fakhar Zaman joins elite company of Babar Azam

Top-order batter Fakhar Zaman has joined the elite company of Babar Azam after smashing a half-century against Multan Sultans.

The left-hander struck three boundaries and five maximums for his 17th half-century in the Pakistan Super League.

His 42-ball 66 provided defending champions Lahore Qalandars a perfect start in the opening match of the PSL8 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Doing so, he also completed 2,000 runs in the competition and only became the second batter after the Pakistan all-format captain to achieve the feat.

He has scored 2,007 runs in 65 matches with the help of 17 half-centuries and a ton.

Babar Azam leads the pack with 2,413 runs in 68 games at an astonishing average of 42.33. He also has the most number of half-centuries in the competition with 23.
