Scarsdale bullying: Inquiry recommends expelling students, penalising school
Lahore’s District Education Authority has recommended expelling girl students involved in a bullying incident at Scarsdale school and canceling the school’s registration, Aaj News learned on Tuesday.
A video of three girls beating a fellow female student went viral over the weekend. The video also shows a fourth girl filming the incident.
The father of the victim had lodged an FIR against four students involved in alleged bullying. Three of the girls named in the FIR secured bails.
The father had also moved the education authority over the incident.
The district education authority has completed its investigation into the incident that found the enforcement of discipline in the school to be ‘lacking’. It recommended that the school be fined Rs600,000 and its registration canceled.
The report said that the four students had bullied and beat up one of their classmates outside the school’s cafeteria. The incident occurred after videos from a student party outside school were shared with the girls’ parents. The report added that all five girls were friends.
The report criticised the school’s enforcement of discipline and added that there were no CCTV cameras above the entrance of the cafeteria.
The victim’s family has also approached FIA to get videos of the incident removed from all social media platforms.
