Karachi police sub-inspector detained in abduction case
KARACHI: Sub-Inspector Saeedullah Yousafzai of Gulbahar Police Station has been arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on suspicion of being involved in a kidnapping for ransom.
The kidnapping of Mohsin Amin, 35, was reported to Garden Police Station on December 31, 2022.
According to the FIR, Mohsin was enjoying a cup of tea with his father Muhammad Amin at a hotel in Jilani Chowk (Garden area) at 6 pm when a stranger called out Mohsin’s name and asked him to come closer to talk. When Mohsin didn’t return for a while, his father grew worried and asked around, upon which he learned that his son had been abducted.
A day after the abduction, Mohsin Amin’s wife received a call from her husband’s number, demanding a Rs2.5 million ransom at Lasbela Chowk. The caller threatened to kill Mohsin and harm the family if the ransom was not paid.
The case was turned over to the AVCC, the police unit in Karachi that deals with kidnappings for ransom. AVCC SSP Amjad Hayat assigned SI Saeed Niaz to investigate.

The hostage was safely rescued.
