High court extends winter vacation in smog hit Lahore
The Lahore High court has ordered Lahore authorities to close schools and colleges for another seven days in the city as smog takes a toll on the health of people.
The court heard a host of petitions about smog on Tuesday.
The court said that winter vacation at schools and colleges should be extended due to smog.
It said smog had been contained due to recent measures ordered by the court but stopping it was the responsibility of the government.
The court adjourned the hearing of the petition till next Friday while summoning the Pakistan Disaster Management Authority chief for the next hearing.
The Punjab government had announced winter vacation from December 24, 2022, to 2 January 2023 in educational institutions across the province.
After the order of the court order, the winter vacations in the educational institutions of Lahore have been extended till January 9.
