The National Accountability Bureau has decided not to challenge the acquittals awarded to Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar in the supreme court.

The Islamabad High Court had acquitted Maryam Nawaz in the Avenfield case on September 29. The bureau has now accepted the overturned judgement as adequate and decided not to pursue the case any further.

DG NAB Rawalpindi has approved the decision of not filing an appeal and has informed the bureau’s prosecution branch about the approval in writing.

An accountability court in Islamabad had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 11 years, Maryam Nawaz to seven years and Captain Safdar to one year in prison in the Avenfield reference. The case was related to the Avenfield apartments owned by the Sharif family in London.
