Inamullah Marwat, the Federal Investigation Agency deputy director, was killed when unidentified men opened fire at him near the jurisdiction of Ghazni Khel police station in Lakki Marwat on Saturday, sources said.

The firing took place a few yards away from the DPO office. Marwat was posted as the FIA deputy director in Dera Ismail Khan. The police have started an investigation into the incident and a case has been registered against Sharifullah and Ali Bahadur at the Ghaznikhel police station.

The FIR stated that the firing took place a few yards away from the DPO office.

According to the FIR, Sharifullah resident of Tajazai area of Lakki Marwat opened fire on Marwat near his father-in-law’s house in Mohalla Shaba Khel Village of Tajazi in Lakki Marwat.

Lakki Marwat has seen unrest over the past few months, prompting the police to launch a search operation in the area in November.
