No Sarfaraz, as Pakistan squad finalised for England series
It may come as a surprise to many that former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed may miss the England Test series despite being in staler form with the bat.
The wicketkeeper batter has so far scored 394 in 10 innings in first-class cricket and kept wickets exceptionally well for Sindh. His tally of runs includes three half-centuries and a ton.
However, despite being in the good nick, the Pakistan cricket team’s think tank is not considering him for the upcoming England tour of Pakistan.
The English side will play three Tests in Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi from December 01.
Moreover, with Shaheen Shah Afridi out of the equation due to a knee injury, sources said, uncapped pacer Haris Rauf is expected to lead the attack.
Surprisingly, Mohammad Abbas’ name is also under consideration for the home series. He hasn’t featured for Pakistan since August 2021. Mir Hamza, who represented Pakistan only once before, is also being considered due to his impressive runs in the ongoing season.
He is expected to join Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mir Hamza in the pace against for the series.
Pakistan’s probable squad:
Imam ul Haq, Shan Masood, Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Shafique, Fawad Alam, Azhar Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mir Hamza.
