PTI has filed pleas seeking the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the assassination attempt on party chief Imran Khan in Wazirabad, in five registries of the Supreme Court across the country.

Imran Khan was injured in his legs on November 3 as fragments of bullets fired in the attack hit his limbs during his party’s long march in Wazirabad.

An FIR on the matter was registered last week following the apex court’s order but the PTI rejected it as FIR was not registered in accordance with the complainant’s desire.

Earlier in the day, PTI lawmakers from Islamabad moved the apex court and filed a petition challenging the decision not to include the names of the three suspects identified by party chief Imran Khan in the FIR over the attack on him.

The petition sought the formation of commissions to investigate three matters — the Wazirabad attack, journalist Arshad Sharif’s killing, and Senator Azam Swati’s alleged video leak.

The petition pleaded that the refusal of police to register the FIR according to the request submitted by the complainant should also be investigated.

The petition also sought the formation of a judicial commission into the alleged “video recording” of Senator Azam Swati and his wife, which according to the party, contains their footage while they were staying at an official rest house.

“Therefore, the Supreme Court of Pakistan is requested to urgently form a Judicial Commission to probe into these grave matters of public importance,” the petition stated.

The similar petitions were also filed in the Supreme Court’s Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta’s Registry.

In Lahore Registry, the petition was submitted by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Usman Buzdar, Shafqat Mahmood and Andaleeb Abbas.

“A judicial commission should be formed… we think that a lot of important events have taken place and a probe needs to be carried out,” Qureshi said while talking to the media in Lahore.

Likewise, in the Supreme Court’s Peshawar Registry Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and other provincial ministers of KP Assembly submitted the petition.

The party also filed petitions in the apex court’s Karachi Registry for investigation of various incidents.
