PTI Senator Azam Khan Swati told the Supreme Court on Monday that the leaked intimate video featuring him was genuine while asking the CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial if it was possible for him to show the video in question to only the judges of the Supreme Court.

The exchange took place during the contempt of court hearing of PTI chief Imran Khan over the May 25 protest in Islamabad. Azam Swati came to the rostrum during the hearing in which the top court gave the Punjab inspector general 24 hours to register an FIR of the attempted assassination of Imran Khan.

When the senator asked if he could show the video to only Supreme Court judges, Justice Bandial said that the matter was with the Human Rights Cell which was reviewing the case.

The chief justice inquired whether Swati had stayed at the judicial lodges of the Supreme Court in Quetta to which Swati said that had stayed at the federal lodges and not the judicial lodges.

In an emotionally-charged press conference on Saturday, Swati had said that Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani had arranged his stay at the judicial lodges where the video was recorded.

In the same press conference, Swati revealed how his family was sent videos of intimate moments between him and his wife. A version of the video was also leaked on social media and was shared widely on WhatsApp groups.

During today’s hearing, the chief justice remarked that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Pakistan Telecomnunication Authority (PTA) should be ordered to remove the alleged video.

Upon this, Swati responded that the video that the videos that are removed might not necessarily be the same as the ones sent to his wife.

‘Video is genuine’

During the hearing and while speaking to the media outside the top court, Senator Swati insisted that the video sent to his family was genuine ‘although certain additions have been made to it’.

“This video was made during the two nights I spent in Quetta as the guest of the Senate chairman.”

On Saturday, the Federal Investigation Agency said in a statement that it had conducted a forensic edit of the video and found it to be fake. The statement did not say whether the video was received from Swati or was it the one doing the rounds on social media - or whether the one sent to Swati’s family is the same as the one that is being shared publicly.
