ISLAMABAD: The appointed officers of interior and foreign ministries should immediately meet the bereaved family of journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed in the Kenyan capital Nairobi as claimed by his wife.

This is what the Islamabad High Court ordered on Monday while hearing the petition of barrister Shoaib Razzaq pertaining to the journalist’s death.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, who heard the petition, asked about the body. To this, the lawyer said it was in Nairobi.

The plea called for conducting an investigation into it.

A commission should be formed to investigate under what circumstances Arshad Sharif left the country, it said, adding that security agencies should be directed to probe the death by contacting the Kenyan agencies.

It further urged the court to give orders for bringing the body to Pakistan.

The IHC has sought a report from the ministries by tomorrow (Tuesday).
