Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan said on Saturday that he would give the date of his much-hyped long march to Islamabad on Friday, October 28.

He said this while addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside Azam Swati.

During the press conference, Imran also lashed out at PML-N led coalition government over the treatment meted out to PTI leaders.

He cited the example of Shahbaz Gill, alleging that his former aide was tortured, stripped naked and sexually assaulted while in custody.

He then moved to the case of Azam Swati, who was accompanying him in the press conference.

Swati, who was arrested for a sarcastic tweet congratulating the army chief over PM Shehbaz’s acquittal in a money laundering case, has claimed that he was stripped and beaten in front of his children.

Imran said that he would raise the issue of Swati’s alleged custodial torture at every forum.

He went on to castigate the Islamabad police over the leaked mugshot of PTI lawmaker Saleh Muhammad Swati, who was arrested from outside the ECP Friday.

Imran was also asked about the possibility of dialogue and consultation with his political rivals, including the recent offers by the PML-N leadership asking PTI to return to the National Assembly as well as Imran’s own statement about backdoor talks.

“Dialogue is possible only if they are willing to announce early elections,” said Imran. “But I have no hope for early election,” he added thus ruling out the possibility of fruitful dialogue.

Regarding the possibility of violence at the march, Imran ruled out the possibility. “It would be peaceful, there will no violence,” he said, adding that the march would be attended by families, including women and children.

Everyone would have a good time at the protest, he continued.
