Journalist Ayaz Amir, whose son is accused of killing his third wife, was back live on Dunya News TV show Think Tank Friday on a talk show on which he said he prayed no one should have to ever suffer such a tragedy.

“If you please give me permission,” he said before the host sought comment from Amir on the audio leaks apparently from Prime Minister House related to former prime minister Imran Khan.

“I had a personal tragedy, which came in the newspapers and media that a beautiful, innocent life was lost,” he said, “No one should have to go through this tragedy, and may God have mercy on all of us. I can only say this. It tears my heart out.”

Shanawaz Amir is accused of killing his Canadian national wife Sarah Inam with a gym dumbbell at his farmhouse in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad on September 23. Sources said the murder happened due to “domestic resentment”.

A district and sessions court in Islamabad on September 29 extended the physical remand of Shahnawaz for another four days. The first information report (FIR) said that the accused hid the body.

When the police entered the house, Shahnawaz locked himself in a room. The police forced into the room and overpowered the man, “whose shirt and hands were stained with blood,” the FIR added.

Shahnawaz told the police that he killed his wife during a fight and hid her body in the bathtub of his washroom.

Sarah was laid to rest on September 28 in Islamabad’s Shahzad Town. Sarah’s father, Inam Rahim has urged courts to award strict punishment to suspects. “If prompt justice will prevail then incidents like Noor Muqaddam and Sara will not occur.”

My son is a drug addict: Amir

In his regular op-ed piece for Dunya newspaper, Ayaz confirmed that his son was a drug addict and didn’t work.

Ayaz Amir repeatedly said he had told his son that he was not worthy of Sarah Inam, whom he described as a “so beautiful, intelligent and innocent girl.”

Amir also said that his habits and broken marital life also had an effect on the upbringing of Shahnwaz and he (Ayaz) was probably responsible for it.

Ayaz Amir revealed that Shahnawaz’s first marriage lasted only for eight days and the second also ended in failure. Sarah Inam was his third wife.

Shahanwaz was living on his father’s money, Ayaz Amir said and confirmed reports that Shahnawaz had been receiving money from Sarah Inam.

The analyst also said that he would have tried to conceal evidence if the issue was only limited to gunfire or someone being injured.

In an apparent attempt to back his son’s possible insanity plea, Ayaz Amir said that on the day Sarah Inam was killed, Shahnawaz called him and said that ‘terminators’ were there to attack him.
