Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Tuesday claimed that the purported audio leaks of the Prime Minister House were not the result of bugging but were the result of hacking.

“The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) will be included in the investigation team,” the interior minister said speaking exclusively on Aaj News programme Spot Light.

Sanaullah said that agencies had completed initial inquiry, adding that it was a case of hacking.

The minister said that it would be better to present the report regarding audio leaks before the National Security Council (NSC) and the federal cabinet.

The detailed inquiry would reveal more about the audio recordings, Sanaullah said and added it was very important to investigate it thoroughly.

Sanaullah said that prima facie the intelligence agencies reached the conclusion that it was a case of hacking but the detailed inquiry would reveal more about the audio recordings.

Speaking about replacing Ishaq Dar with Miftah Ismail, the interior minister said that Dar was an experienced and senior parliamentarian. “Regarding finance Mr. Dar is an authority,” he added.

He said that Miftah knew that he was appointed as country’s finance minister due to non-availability of Ishaq Dar.

Earlier in the day, Dar, a former finance minister, was sworn in as senator. He landed in Pakistan along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday after spending five years in a self-imposed exile.

In reply to a question about PTI’s recent call to public for a long march, Sanaullah said that law enforcement agencies had already prepared plan to tackle the mob of PTI at sensitive places.

He said that under Article 245 of the Constitution the federal government has the right to call in the Pakistan Army to maintain law and order situation, adding that the government could seek police personnel from provinces and paramilitary forces.

The minister said that PTI could stage their protest or sit-in at the places the Supreme Court and Islamabad High Court had suggested for protests.

He said that Imran Khan could bring not more than 15 to 20 thousand people, “but we have arranged such a force that we will be able to stop them very easily”.
