KANDHKOT, Sindh: The law and order situation in Sindh’s Kandhkot remains precarious with kidnapping for ransom cases are on the rise.

Reports said after the recent rains and floods that devastated the country including Sindh, unrest and criminal activities remained on the rise with Kandhkot reporting 43 cases of kidnapping for ransom during the past one month.

A week ago, criminals kidnapped a truck driver Naseer Brohi, a resident of Madiji city. On the same day, Ashfaq Soomro and Ashiq Soomro were also kidnapped from the Indus Highway.

In a video shared on social media, Brohi shows an injured leg as he appeals for the payment of the Rs2 million ransom for his release.

The heirs of the captive protested against the kidnapping and blocked the Indus Highway, which disturbed the flow of intra-city traffic. The protesters demanded the immediate recovery of the captives.

Among the gangs involved in these abductions are the Bhiu, Teghani, Jagirani and Sabzoi gangs, who kidnap people, imprison them in hideouts in rural areas and torture them.
