UK university rankings announced for 2023

League table will help you make a choice based on UCAS points

The 2023 UK university league tables have been released by the University Guide, in which the University of Oxford has beat the University of Cambridge.

If you are doing research into which programme and university might be the best choice, this ranking could help. It breaks down 74 subject areas and compares the quality of universities.

  • Six Prime Ministers and two Presidents of Pakistan have studied at Oxford
  • A typical graduate degree at Oxford costs £45,000 a year
  • 20 Pakistani students every year cannot accept offers from Oxford because they cannot afford it
  • Only 12 undergraduate and 45 graduate students attended Oxford in 2021

Career counsellors in Pakistan advise students to look beyond the UK, US and Canada for cheaper options which are just as good.

For example, the Times Higher Education says Peking University ranks No 16 globally and Tsingua University is another option. You can find the world rankings here. This system allows you to also see which Pakistan universities rank. Quaid-e-Azam University, for example, appears on top.
