Flood affectees have been holding a protest in Navy Chak area of Sindh’s Badin district against carrying out an artificial cut on the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) at RD 211.

The protestors vowed that they would not let the administration carry out the artificial cut on the drain.

Meanwhile, police and civil administration with heavy machinery have arrived at the LBOD.

The critical condition of LBOD posed threats to hundreds of thousands of people in the areas near the LBOD which is intended to drain saline ground and surface water, industrial effluents and Indus river basin floodwater from more than two million hectares of irrigated land in the four districts of the province to alleviate water logging and salinity.
