At least 32,000 vehicles entered Murree and a little over 28,000 exited the hill station during Eid ul Azha holidays, showed the data compiled by the traffic office of Rawalpindi.

According to Rawalpindi City Traffic Officer (CTO) Naveed Irshad, 360 wardens and traffic officers were deployed on the route for Eid ul Azha to maintain traffic.

It had finalized all the arrangements besides setting up a control room to facilitate the tourists and monitor the traffic situation in Murree.

He said special arrangements were made to ensure that tourists visiting the hill station were able to avoid any untoward incident.

Murree has a parking capacity of 3,500 vehicles, he added, with a maximum 8,000 vehicles allowed to enter Murree on daily basis.

“1,380 tourists were provided help and assistance while nearly 13,000 awareness pamphlets were also distributed among the visitors,” he said.

Special counting and checking pickets were also set up at entry and exit points of Murree, he added.

Despite being a two-way and narrow roads, there was no traffic problem on any of Murree’s highways, he claimed while urging drivers to avoid overtaking while driving.

A special desk and helpline had also been set up for the convenience of tourists, he added.
