We’ve all watched the Kapil Sharma Show, and thanks to its entertaining skits and impressive celebrity cast, we’ve all laughed and passed hours watching it.

Recently, a new show called “Super Over” was launched, with Ahmed Ali Butt as the host. However, the show has come under fire for allegedly imitating the popular Indian show. The talk show has been said to take inspiration from the well-known programme, but there is a thin line between being inspired by something and outright duplicating it.

Here are videos from both the sets, do you think they were copied?

There were many similarities between the two sets, including the seating arrangement, the staircase at the back, and the general colour scheme. Fans criticised the programme, claiming that they mistakenly believed it to be an Indian programme until they noticed the stars and realised it was Pakistani. They said that the programme had been copied from top to bottom.

As we’ve already mentioned, the Kapil Sharma show is well-known and enjoys a significant fanbase in Pakistan, consequently, we suspect it may have played a role in why the sets were made so similarly. It seemed the show’s producers were trying to introduce something similar here in the hopes that it will get the same kind of popularity.

Regardless of their intentions when making the show, we wish Pakistan’s film and entertainment industries would recognise the potential of their own stars. We as a nation are brimming with creative people who are simply wanting to be represented in some form, and it is about time that we tap into that pool of talent that we do have.

We lose the chance to carve out a niche for ourselves in the larger show business industry when shows like this are released. We are so frequently confused with our neighbours that when songs like Pasoori are released, the west views it as an accomplishment by India. If we concentrate on our nation’s talents and strengths, we may make our own mark and protect ourselves from being misrepresented.
