Dermatologist Dr Maleeha Jawaid: How to use anti-ageing serums and creams

Who are they for and are they safe?
Anti aging kay liye serum aur creams ka istamaal kaisa hai? | Aaj Pakistan with Sidra Iqbal

The words hydrohalic acid has been thrown around a lot, especially when you talk about skincare. But what is this magical elixir that dermatologists like Maleeha Jawad swear by?

Hydrohalic acid naturally occurs in the human body in the joints and tissues. Products, especially serums, containing the acid help retain moisture in the skin.

Serums are easy to use and absorb into the skin. They are non-sticky and can be used as the first layer to build other moisturisers and creams on.

Sunblock is another holy grail in the world of skincare and the rules have changed from simple cleansing, toning and moisturising.

If you are confused by all the product names and get confused as to what layer goes first, here is a little guide:

  • Start with a makeup remover
  • Use a cleanser
  • Scrub if indulging in a deep clean
  • Use a toner
  • Apply a serum on damp skin
  • Apply eye cream and or serum
  • Use a moisturiser preferably with SPF for the day
  • Use a sunblock that contains at least 50SPF if your moisturiser does not have one
