  • Karachi will receive showers also on Tuesday (today). Monday’s rain brought some respite for the people, who were battling with hot weather for a long time. The Met Office said drizzle and rain will continue in the city till July 6.

  • Houses near the link Badini Cross in Balochistan after it received heavy rain. Low-lying areas in Quetta are underwater. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has advised the affected people to shift to safe locations.

  • Police have arrested former federal minister for port and shipping Babar Ghauri after the latter landed at the Karachi airport upon his return from the US to Pakistan. Security institutions have shifted Ghauri to an unidentified location. He has been accused of illegal appointments and Rs2.80 worth of corruption.

  • Dr Farooq Sattar’s re-entry to the MQM has entered the final stage as he is expected to meet party leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

  • The counter-terrorism department has claimed to have arrested the central suspect of the Karachi university van blast with the help of “technical and other pieces of evidence”.

  • Parliament’s in-camera session on national security would be held on Tuesday (today).

  • DSP Munawar Ali Mehr has been appointed chief security officer with the chief election commissioner. Additional troops of the FC were also appointed for the CEC.

  • At least 653 coronavirus cases were reported over the last 24 hours, according to the National Institute of Health. The Covid positivity ratio stood at 3.45%.

  • Chicago’s firing incident left six people dead and several others wounded. Police have claimed to have arrested the suspect.

  • Former president Asif Ali Zardari has assured Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo of complete support in resolving the province’s water issues during a meeting.
