How to get the government-issued Rs2,000 monthly stipend?

The federal government has launched the ‘sasta petrol, sasta diesel’ scheme to provide an Rs2,000 stipend to households having a monthly income of less than Rs40,000 in order to provide them financial assistance, amid skyrocketing inflation that has forced people to cut down their monthly expenses.

Below are the details for acquiring the government subsidy schemes:

Criteria and details

  • Monthly income of less than Rs40,000
  • Send CNIC number to phone number ‘786’
  • Only one member eligible from a single family
  • Married woman/widow given preference
  • Eligible man to get a stipend in absence of a married woman/widow
  • BISP registered beneficiaries included
  • BISP beneficiaries in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to get stipends from HBL
  • BISP beneficiaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir to get stipends from Bank Alfalah

The scheme would cater to as many as 14 million households, which amounts to roughly 804 million people or one-third of the country’s population. As many as 7.3 million Benazir Income Support Program beneficiaries are also included in the Rs28 billion worth programme.
