NUST zooms into UK’s Formula Student 2022 with electric car
The engineering students of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Karachi have been selected once again to participate in the Formula Student 2022, this time their electric car also has a driver, the team revealed on Sidra Iqbal’s morning show, Aaj Pakistan.
The last time the NUST Formula Student Team participated in the event, they created a driver-less car and won. This is the fourth iteration of the car. The team has also participated in other competitions including one in Russia.
Making cars from scratch is undoubtedly an uphill task, and the team at NUST comprises 40 members, including nine girls.
“We have a very strict hierarchy to ensure smooth operations. We also encourage more females to opt for engineering and we support each other as much as we can,” said Mohammad Huzaifa, a senior mechanical engineer.
“We have pioneered making electric cars in Pakistan and even though we have just started embracing this technology, if facilitated we can shift the country away from fuel-burning cars,” said Laiba Asif, one of the mechanical engineers representing the team on the show.
