Lady Gaga is in early talks to star as Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming sequel to Joker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Variety reports speculations of Todd Phillip’s 2019 blockbuster will be followed by a musical sequel. The singer-turned-actor is rumoured to play the role of Joker’s partner-in-madness, Harley Quinn, previously played by Margot Robbie in ‘The Suicide Squad’ in the DC universe.

However, reports suggest Gaga’s version of Quinn will be in a different version of the universe than Robbie’s character.

Director Todd Phillips confirmed that he had a working script for the Joker: Folie à Deux on his Instagram.

The director also notably produced 2018’s A Star Is Born, which starred Gaga alongside Joker producer Bradley Cooper.
