LAHORE: A fire broke out in the basement of a plaza in Lahore on Tuesday, which resulted in the death of a man.

Though the fire-fighters were succeeded in dousing the fire after hectic efforts but they could not save 50-year-old MirzaWaheedBaig who fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital but could not be revived.

The rescuers managed to rescue 23 who were stuck on the second and third storeys of the sky-high Rehman plaza located near Faisal Chowk. Rescue 1122 fire hydrants and two snorkels took part in the operation to extinguish the blaze as the basement of the plaza filled with thick black smoke.
