Imran Khan reaches Bani Gala after Peshawar court grants him transit bail
ISLAMABAD: Former premier Imran Khan reached his Islamabad residence, Bani Gala, on Sunday after the Peshawar High Court had approved his transit bail till June 25 against surety bonds worth Rs50,000.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson presided over the party’s core committee meeting to review the prevailing political political situation and future course of action.
The capital city police on late Saturday placed the security of Khan’s residence on high alert in view of the latter’s expected arrival in his house on Sunday.
“However, until now Islamabad Police has not received any confirmed news of return from Imran Khan’s team,” the Islamabad police said in a series of tweets. The Security Division has deployed “dedicated security” in Bani Gala. A list of the people at the residence has not been provided yet to the police, they claimed.
Section 144 (Power to issue order absolute at once in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger) of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been imposed in Islamabad and any congregation was not allowed, according to the orders of the district magistrate. “Islamabad Police will provide complete security to IK [Imran Khan] as per the law and reciprocal cooperation is expected from the security teams of Imran Khan as well,” it added.
Police are strictly checking the vehicles entering the Bani Gala.
In the core committee meeting, the former ruling party would also deliberate on the decisions pertaining to their call for a long march towards Islamabad. The party has directed the members to ensure their attendance at the meeting.
