LAHORE: Fire at Children’s Hospital in Lahore burning medicines worth millions of rupees to ashes was put out on Saturday after at least seven hours.

The fire reportedly broke out in the morning due to short circuit in the pharmacy located at the third floor of the hospital. Soon it engulfed the entire floor, but no casualty was reported in the incident.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot but the intensity of flames forced the closure of the OPD. However, emergency and indoor medical facilities were available for patients.

At least seven fire brigade vehicles took part in the emergency call to extinguish the fire.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz took notice of the event and ordered an inquiry into the incident, while Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the hospital.

The hospital formed a committee to assess the damages and conduct further investigation of the incident.
