ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ordered the Islamabad chief commissioner on Wednesday to provide H-9 ground for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally, while also ordering the government and PTI to initiate a dialogue amid a war-like situation in the country.

The court also ordered the release of PTI supporters, arrested without registered FIRs.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Mazahar Naqvi heard the case filed by the Islamabad High Court Bar Association against the closure of roads ahead of PTI’s Long March to Islamabad.

The court ordered dialogue between PTI and government officials will be held at the Islamabad chief commissioner’s office at 10pm.

The government was also asked to devise traffic plans so the participants of the long march as well as other citizens do not face trouble on the roads. People should remain peaceful and not attack public or private properties, the court said.

High courts were also asked to conclude sub judice criminal cases against political party leaders as quickly as possible.

Houses should not be raided and no one should be bothered without an actual reason, the apex court ordered.

PTI leaders should also get protection, the court said, while asking the party for a list of members that were fearing arrests.
