Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman has said that he has recorded a video message that will be made public if he is assassinated. “It will have the names and details of all those invovled in the regime change that led to my ouster,” Imran told supporters in Sialkot on Saturday.

He said that conspiracy had been hatched “in closed rooms in and outside the country” to kill him.

“I knew of this conspiracy … so I have recorded a video and kept it in a secure place. If something happens to me, this video will be made public,” he said.

“It names everyone who conspired against me since last summer or were complicit.”

In another startling claim, Imran said that another FIA investigator in the money laundering case had suffered a heart attack.

“They put so much pressure on Nadeem Akhtar that he had a heart attack yesterday,” said Imran.

This is the second case of an FIA officer investigating the money laundering case against PM Shehbaz and his son, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, to suffer cardiac-related complications in less than a week.

According to local media, Dr Rizwan died of a heart attack on Monday. Rizwan was the FIA director in Punjab who was removed from his post as soon as the current government came to power.

Venue switch

The PTI had to change the venue of its public gathering in Sialkot after the area’s Christian comnmunity protested against holding the rally on their ground. It was followed by a police crackdown against the party leadership and workers. The rally was shifted to Sialkot’s VIP ground, announced PTI leaders earlier in the day.

Police crackdown

Police cracked down on the PTI activists early Saturday for organising the gathering in the ground used by the area’s Christians without their consent.

Mahmood demanded the release of Usman Dar and other workers and alleged that Defence Minister Khawaja Asif directed the administration to use force against the party workers.

He reiterated the PTI’s demand of fresh elections, saying the only agenda of party’s “peaceful protests” was early election. “It is the only solution for the country’s problems,” he added.

Awami Muslim League Leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, a PTI ally, said that the government has tasked the interior ministry to arrest PTI workers in the next 72 hours. “The decision to stop PTI public gatherings was taken in London,” he said alluding to PM Shehbaz-led PML-N delegation’s trip to London to meet Nawaz Sharif. Government spokesperosn Marriyum Aurangzeb, who accompanied Shehbaz to London but returned earlier, has insisted that the trip was personal in nature with political consultations being incidental.

Following the announcement of new venue for the rally, PTI chairperson Imran Khan tweeted: “I will be going to Sialkot today, let there be no doubt.” He condemned the police and administration’s crackdown against the PTI workers, saying it was “outrageous, but not unexpected.”
