LAHORE: For almost two weeks, around 250,000 students will continue to test their memory and analytical skills for more than two hours while sitting for the matriculation exams held by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore.

The students will be sitting through their papers as the temperature soars and power cuts hit centres.

BISE has set up 759 centres for the exam, which started on Tuesday.

“More than 270,000 candidates will appear for the 9th class exams, which will commence from May 26 and end on June 26,” according to a press release.

BISE Lahore Chairman Mirza Habib Ali said: “These examinations would be conducted from the full syllabus and full pattern after the coronavirus pandemic.”

Ali said that cheating won’t be allowed and action would be taken against those promoting such practices (locally called booti mafia) in exams.

“Conducting transparent exams is among my priorities. We have made the examination process completely foolproof,” he said, adding that action would be taken against examination centres found violating the rules.
