An elderly widow was attacked by at least two men in Pattoki area of Punjab’s Kasur district, reported Aaj News on Tuesday.

A group of men, of which two have been identified as Saleem and Pappu, started ploughing Irshad Bibi’s field in an attempt to declare the land as their own.

When Irshad Bibi objected and tried to stop the men, they beat her and tried to physically pick her up and throw her off the land that she owns.

Upon her hue and cry, locals gathered at the scene with many recording the woman’s ordeal on their phones. Others intervened prompting the attackers to run but not before verbally threatening the woman and those who had intervened with dire consequences.

In one video, she can be seen being dragged by two men from behind a tractor as another tractor works the field. A second video shows her lying on the floor with a bloodied face as another woman fans her and offers her water.

A third video shows her filmed by a local man who narrates the incident, while stating that those who attacked her had fled. He then asks the villagers whether “the woman had suffered an injustice” with people agreeing by raising their hands.

At the time this report was filed, no FIR had been registered at the local Sarai Mughal police station but the victim’s brother said he was taking legal action against the attackers.
