ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday that his party rejected the government’s proposed commission to probe the issue of “foreign conspiracy” and demanded the formation of an independent judicial commission to investigate the matter.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with former state minister and PTI leader Farrukh Habib, Fawad said that PTI rejects the decision of the government to form a subordinate commission and will only recognize one commission which would be subordinate to an independent judiciary and have an open hearing.

He was reacting to the press conference of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, during which she announced that the government had decided to form an inquiry commission to investigate former prime minister Imran Khan’s claims about a foreign conspiracy to oust the PTI-led government.

Fawad said that the federal information minister was nervous while addressing the press conference.

He said that two-thirds of the federal ministers were on bail adding that the country had been disrespected as 60 percent of people in the cabinet are on bail.

The PTI leader said that since the current government came into power, “the incidents of terrorism have increased by 24%.”

He said the most important problem of the country was the energy crisis but the country has no energy minister, adding that the country was in crisis because of the distribution of ministries.

Fawad said the ruling coalition has not been able to build any corruption cases against the PTI leadership.

The former information minister said that his party would not allow anyone to offer military bases to any foreign country in Pakistan.

“The US wanted to gain bases in Pakistan,” the minister said, adding that the conspiracy to remove Imran Khan’s government had been planned after he had refused to offer bases.
