The Turkish government has tightened the visa policy for Pakistanis after crimes reportedly involving Pakistanis started surfacing, Aaj News reported on Wednesday.

The government has also stopped issuing temporary residence permit for Pakistanis.

On Tuesday, Pakistan men reportedly kidnapped four Nepalis in Istanbul.

The kidnapped people were walking on Taksim Square when they were abducted at gunpoint and later shifted to a house.

There, the people were tortured and their videos were made, with the kidnapping demanding a ransom of 10,000 euros for their release.

Turkish police received a tip-off and subsequently raided the house from where six people were arrested. Knives and pistol were also found in the possession of the accused.

This comes only a few days after several young men protested in Istanbul over the end of Imran Khan’s government. However, police arrested the protesters.

Turkey has banned protests and anyone doing so is subjected to strict punishment.

Pakistanis residing in Turkey have condemned the kidnapping incident. They believe such incidents put Pakistan’s reputation at stake on an international level.
