IG Sindh directed police to detain two MQM-London leaders

The IG Sindh says their presence at any public place is likely to pose grave threat to the public safety

Inspector General (IG) Sindh on Friday directed the Sindh police to detain two newly appointed deputy conveners of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London.

In a letter to the Sindh police the IG Sindh said that as per the intelligence report, Kanwar Khalid and Momin Khan Momin, newly appointed deputy conveners of MQM-L in its meeting on March 07, have started illegal activities in Karachi to have foothold in different areas of the metropolis.

"The presence of the above named persons at any public place is likely to pose grave threat to the public safety and cause breach of peace and tranquility, therefore IG Sindh has recommended that they may be detained under MPO 1960 for three months at least," the letter read.

The letter further stated that both the MQM-L leaders should be arrested and their custody should be placed under the Senior Superintendent of Central Prison, Karachi.
