Imran Khan's stepson Musa Maneka was quoted in the media on Tuesday as saying that the woman at the centre of allegations of corruption, Farah Khan, had betrayed both his mother Bushra Bibi and the prime minister.

According to a story published in The Hindustan Times on Wednesday, Maneka said his family had no association with Farah Khan who left Pakistan on April 3, the day the prime minister asked for the assemblies to be dissolved.

Farah, said to be a close friend of Bushra Bibi, is being accused by opposition members of amassing a huge amount of wealth.

PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz also accused Farah of corruption saying she was "the front person in Punjab" and also received huge sums for getting officers transferred to their choice postings.

"Appointments in Punjab either used to take place through witchcraft or by paying a bribe to Farah Khan," the PML-N vice president said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Disgruntled PTI leaders Chaudry Sarwar and Aleem Khan have made similar allegations against Farah Khan.

However, Bushra Bibi's stepson is keen to distance his family from the woman at the centre of the controversy.

“Farah Khan has gone to Dubai to seek residence there. Our family has no link with the alleged deals done by Farah Khan,” Musa told Geo News.

News media outlets also reported that Farah Khan attended an iftari on Monday at Bushra Bibi's sister's house in Abu Dhabi.

The woman and the bag

Earlier, a photo of Farah in a private jet with an Hermes Birkin purse said to be worth $90,000 took social media by storm.

PML-N leader weighed in on the controversy too and also noted how the bag costs "Rs16.2 million".
