Bella Hadid to make her acting debut in Hulu’s comedy drama ‘Ramy’
American model of Palestinian origin Bella Hadid has joined the cast of Ramy, an Emmy nominated comedy-drama on the subscription streaming platform Hulu, as a recurring guest star in season 3, reported Variety on Thursday.
The runway queen shared the news on her Instagram profile, receiving encouraging responses from fans and her colleagues in the industry.
“You’re gonna kill it,” said singer Justin Bieber, while Bella’s sister Gigi Hadid exclaimed in excitement.
The details of the model’s character and relationship with other characters on the show have not been revealed yet.
Ramy tells the story of a first-generation Egyptian American family starring actor Ramy Youssef. The show has previously had two successful seasons, and Youssef won a Golden Globe award for the drama in 2020.
Other members of the cast include Laith Nakli, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Mohammed Amer and Steve Way.
According to its logline on Hulu, Ramy aims to "bring a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it’s like to be caught between a religious community who believes life is a moral test, and a millennial generation that doubts an afterlife even exists. In the third season, his family is forced to confront having lived a life dedicated to worldly concerns — and in some cases, lies — while Ramy all but abandons his spiritual journey, instead of dedicating himself to a diamond business he owns with his uncle.”
